  • A type of a long range, terrestrial radio navigation system (LOng RAnge Navigation)
  • A chain is comprised of one master station and 2 to 4 secondary stations
  • Location is estimated based on the time difference between the master station and the secondary station at which they receive the pulses
  • It is applied in sea, land and air navigation due to its wide range of use and high accuracy
  • It is used as a time standard as it tells time in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
