Hello
I am Kim Hyung-jun, president of the National Maritime Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (NMPNT) Office.
NMPNT provides positioning information using the global navigation satellite system (GNSS)'s differential global navigation satellite system (DGNSS) and LOng RAnge Navigation (LORAN). NMPNT seeks to improve maritime traffic safety and ship operation efficiency in the South Korean waters.
Recently in the field of GNSS, various systems have been established and operated starting with the GPS of the USA, GLONASS of Russia, Beidou of China, and Galileo of Europe, as well as eLoran, the next-generation terrestrial navigation system that protects GSPs from electronic hacking.
At the center of such rapidly changing navigation systems is NMPNT. It is making efforts to keep up with international trends by developing and applying various technologies. NMPNT does this by collecting and analyzing policies and technological trends set by international organizations and advanced countries.
In particular, NMPNT provides positioning information not only on maritime but also on land through various media, such as the Internet and smartphone, to ensure convenience for citizens and users.
Moving forward, all NMPNT employees will continue to make utmost efforts to create safe marine traffic environments by providing reliable positioning infrastructures.
