Establishment of NMPNT
- The International Maritime Organization (IMO) recommended building a differential global positioning system (DGPS) that provides differential GPS information and information with integrity in real time for the safe operation of sailing vessels in narrow waters and entry/exit routes to ports and harbors.
- IMO Maritime Safety Committee 67th Session (June 1996)
- Maritime DGPS information covers 65% of the national territory; thus, six additional inland DGPS reference stations were constructed to expand the DGNSS and form a national network.
- The prime minister’s order on the establishment of a national network of differential global positioning system (Prime Minister's Order No. 409, December 7, 2000)
- Installation and operation of DGNSS (Article 6 of the Navigational Aids Act)
