Gwangju eLoran/Loran-C station
The Gwangju eLoran/Loran-C Station plays the role of a secondary station (W) for eLoran and Loran-C Korea Chain (GRI 9930). It has established a time synchronization device that is used to generate precise UTC time and time synchronization information below 1 μs.
Loran-C was installed in 1979 by the US Air Force for tactical purposes and commenced operation of the GRI 9930 Chain in 1995. It currently conducts regular inspection and maintenance of devices and systems in order to meet the recommended operating rate (99.8%) and transmission station operating rate (99.8%) proposed by the Far East Radio Navigation Services (FERNS). It also supervises tasks such as controlling, measuring, and analyzing Loran signals.
