Manage Forest Areas Affected by Fire in Eastern Oregon

The DGNSS receiver is an essential item for the US Bureau of Land Management. It is as important as fuel for their helicopters. All government helicopters are required by law to be equipped with a DGNSS receiver for flight. However, the US Bureau of Land Management is also using DGNSS receivers to produce other maps. The survey technicians prepare the DGNSS receivers whenever there is an outbreak of fire in eastern parts of Oregon. Once the fire is extinguished, they take DGNSS receivers and a program that save information on destinations based on the average speed of a helicopter and fly to the area affected by the fire.

This system stores the destinations that are going to be transmitted to the computer in the office. They use this data to calculate the exact area affected by the fire and indicate their exact location. In addition, this data can be linked with and saved in the geographic information system (GIS) to be used as data for fire prevention projects in the future, such as installing fences for fire prevention.
